Penguin Random House India (PRHI) announced the launch of ‘Penguin Swadesh,’ a new label dedicated to publishing novels in several Indian languages.
The imprint will focus on exploring literature in various Indian languages and making English language books more widely available through translations. It will also build on the children’s titles, which will include translations of classics from all across the world.
“Penguin Swadesh is a powerful symbol of our commitment to Indian languages. We are very excited about bringing voices to the forefront that have previously been confined to their geographies,” said Vaishali Mathur, publisher of PRHI’s ‘The Indian Languages Publishing’ (ILP) division.
